Horror films have made an impact on my way of working.
They have provided me inspiration to develop my own aesthetics.
In 2018, for instance, I experimented with kombucha tea. I fermented and made vegetal leather with it. The texture and the look of the material were like flesh, so I made a mask with it. I was invited then to make a performance wearing the mask to make the opening of the horror film SOCIETY during a CultFilm event at Worm.

I watched more than 30 (horror) films to develop my concept of body modifications and get new insights.

The films are related to the body, the skin, and deformities. I made a selection of the films that I consider the most relevant:
Slit in stomach prosthetic - Videodrome
Horror is understandably preoccupied with the fear of “the Other”, the concept that stands in opposition to the self. It is in many ways an instinctive fear of that which is different, the suspicion that something that is distinct must also be dangerous. Horror films have long been read as coded expressions of this deep-seated fear of that which is different from the mainstream; the Other as defined by concepts like race or gender or sexual orientation or political ideology.
Why my interest in horror films?
